Fun Facts
- The average hear beats about 3 billion times in a person life time.
- About 8 million blood cells die in the human body every second, and the same number are born each second.
Circulatory System
- Red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to all the cells of the body.
- White blood cells are like soldiers protecting the body.
- ARTERIES are vessels that carry blood away from the heart.
- VEINS are vessels that carry blood back to the heart.
- Blood CIRCULATES–circles–all around your body in about one or two minutes.
- Inside the heart are four hollow chambers. Each chamber is a little pump. The pumping pushes blood all around your body.
Four chambers of the heart and the functions
- Right Atrium - It is the first stopping point of the blood, the oxygen gets taken out and needs to be re-oxynated in the lungs. The first valve closes and another opens and the blood is pored into the right ventrical
- Left Atrium - After the blood is fully oxygenated it is put back into the left atrium it is stored for one more heart beat and then the blood flows to the left ventrical
- Right Ventrical - Recives blood from the right atrium and pumps it into the main pulmonary artery. The mains pulmonary artery extends from the right ventrical and goes into the right and left pulmonary arteries that goes to the lungs, oxygen is put back into the blood and returned to the heart.
- Left Ventrical - Receives blood from the left artrim and pumps it to the aorta. The aorta caries and distributes the blood to the rest of the body.
